A passionate community builder, experiential educator, and pastoral counselor.
Rabbi Aaron Finkelstein is the rabbi of Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel in Chicago. He was the founding rabbi of Prospect Heights Shul in Brooklyn, New York, and was the Middle School Rabbi at Milken Community School in Los Angeles from 2017 to 2023. Originally from Berkeley, Rabbi Finkelstein received semikha from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah in 2011, and previously graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Political Science as well as in Jewish and Near Eastern Studies. He served as Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Sherith Israel in Nashville from 2014 to 2017, and was a 2015 – 2016 fellow in Yeshiva University’s certificate program in Experiential Jewish Education. In addition to hobbies like basketball and running, Rabbi Finkelstein is an avid cook and baker. He lives in Lakeview with his wife Julie and their daughters Yara and Amalya.
